Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Ruturaj Gaikwad to lead teams in Duleep Trophy

Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Abhimanyu Easwaran have been named captains of the four squads for the Duleep Trophy, As reported by Cricbuzz, majority of the players from India's senior squads have been picked to play in the tournament's first round barring Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya. Apart from these four, the selectors haven't picked R Ashwin as well whereas Mohammed Shami continues his rehabilitation.

Gill will be leading Team A that has the likes of Riyan Parag, KL Rahul, Shivam Dube and Kuldeep Yadav. Team B, led by Easwaran, has the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja and Rishabh Pant. Allrounder Nitish Reddy is a part of the squad as well but his participation is subject to fitness.

Team C, led by Gaikwad, has the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Sai Sudharsan, Rajat Patidar bolstering the batting lineup. As expected, Ishan Kishan returns to action and is picked in Team D, led by Iyer. The squad also consists of Devdutt Padikkal, Axar Patel and Arshdeep Singh among others.

The BCCI has also confirmed that the players picked to represent India in the home Test series against Bangladesh will be replaced in the Duleep Trophy squads. The tournament is set to get underway from September 5. Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur and the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru have been chosen as the hosts. The first-class tournament will conclude on September 22.

The squads for the Duleep Trophy is a reflection of the update provided by Cricbuzz in mid-July regarding the possible increase in national team players featuring in the domestic tournament.

Team B: Abhimanyu Easwaran (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant, Musheer Khan, Nitish Kumar Reddy*, Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohd Siraj, Yash Dayal, Mukesh Kumar, Rahul Chahar, R Sai Kishore, Mohit Awasthi, N Jagadeesan (WK).

Team C: Ruturaj Gaikwad (C), Sai Sudharsan, Rajat Patidar, Abishek Porel (WK), Suryakumar Yadav, B Indrajith, Hrithik Shokeen, Manav Suthar, Umran Malik, Vyshak Vijaykumar, Anshul Khamboj, Himanshu Chauhan, Mayank Markande, Aryan Juyal (WK), Sandeep Warrier.
