On 18 November 2024, an altercation broke out between players of both sides in the middle of the field after the Super League game between Tejgaon Cricket Academy and Sapphire Sporting Club, which took place at the PKSP Ground - 1.

Kusal Mendis, Pathum Nissanka, Kamindu Mendis, and Asitha Fernando have been released from the Sri Lankan national squad for the third ODI of the ongoing series against New Zealand.

Sri Lanka Cricket stated in a release on Monday that the decision was taken by the selectors to give the above players adequate time to recover and prepare for the upcoming test series against South Africa.

Alice Capsey called up to England squad for SA series

England have added Alice Capsey to their squad for their forthcoming tour of South Africa. The 20-year-old was originally picked and was one of only two players - Dani Gibson the other - from England's World Cup squad that was not considered for the South Africa series.

Howerver, injury concerns in the England camp, specifics of which were not revealed, have prompted the team management to call her up, effectively ending her WBBL season.

After managing a top score of 19 in three innings in the UAE, Capsey has enjoyed a slightly better WBBL. She has 72 runs from eight innings for Melbourne Renegades but more importantly, sits third on the wicket-takers chart with 13 scalps at 13.23. This included a five-fer against Perth Scorchers.

England will play three T20Is, three ODIs and a Test starting November 24 on their tour of South Africa.

PCB curtail National Women's One-Day Tournament

The Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to curtail the ongoing National Women's One-Day Tournament 2024-25, being played in Karachi, following a fire incident at the team hotel on Monday. The five players who were in the hotel at the time of the incident were evacuated safely.

While four teams were involved in the fifth round of the matches of the competition, Strikers were at a training session at the time of the incident. "The decision to truncate the tournament was made with the health and safety of the players as the top priority. Additionally, the unavailability of alternative accommodations to meet the approximately 100 rooms of the required standards for contributed to this outcome," the PCB stated in a release.

Invincibles and the Stars - the top two teams at the end of the four rounds - have now been pitted to play the final directly. The date and venue for the final will be announced soon.

Mumbai are set to field a star-studded side for the 2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with seasoned batter Shreyas Iyer as captain. The 29-year-old will be available for the entire tournament as he isn't part of the Indian Test side for the Australian tour. Iyer, who last played a T20I in December 2023, will also be keen to keep himself in the race for the shortest format, as India look to build towards the next T20 World Cup to be hosted by them in 2026. While Iyer led Kolkata Knight Riders to their third IPL title in the 2024 season, he wasn't in the retention list submitted by the franchise. That means that the middle order batter will be entering the IPL mega auction alongside national teammates Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul.

Apart from Iyer, senior man Ajinkya Rahane and bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur will also be part of the squad. The other key addition to Mumbai's squad is that of opener Prithvi Shaw who wasn't part of the playing XI in Mumbai's recent Ranji Trophy games.

The 20-year ban was imposed following allegations of inappropriate conduct that took place while Samaraweera was employed by Cricket Victoria (CV) as the head coach. He quit the position in May this year after serving for only two weeks. The 10-year ban is in relation to a further allegation of inappropriate behaviour against Samaraweera relating to private coaching sessions.

Shami's comeback plans hit another roadblock

Shami made his last competitive appearance for India in the Men's ODI World Cup Final in 2023 against Australia in Ahmedabad last year. He had been struck with an injury to his left Achilles heel after the World Cup and recently suffered from swelling in his knee during rehab.

Shami had said that he felt 100% pain free last month and that he would run to play a match once the doctors gave him the all-clear. But this comes as a body blow for the fast-bowler who hopes to be on the plane to Australia at some point in the five-match series.

Ebadot set to return to competitive action

Bangladesh pacer Ebadot Hossain is all set to return to competitive cricket after a gap of 14 months with Sylhet Division's fourth-round game in ongoing National Cricket League, the country's traditional first-class competition.

Bangladesh Cricket Board officials confirmed the development to Cricbuzz on Friday regarding the pacer, who is recovering from knee anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury that he sustained during the ODI series against Afghanistan at home in July 2023.

Ebadot, who represents Sylhet Division in the NCL, will play against Khulna Division in their fourth-round match of NCL, slated to begin on November 9.

"As per our plan Ebadot is expected to feature in the fourth round of NCL and we want to see how he feels after playing competitive cricket," BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury told Cricbuzz. "This is part of the rehabilitation process and there can be some restrictions in place (as far as his bowling is concerned).

"He( Ebadot) has to get his rhythm back and the only way to get it is by bowling in matches and that is what we are eyeing to do at the moment. If he feels fine after bowling than it is okay but if that is not the case he can get some time to recover and work on areas that needs to be developed before the BPL," he said.

Ebadot is picked by defending BPL champions Fortune Barishal for the next edition of the tournament, scheduled to start on December 30.

BCB recently opted to send Ebadot to India during their tour to continue his rehabilitation under the close eyes of team management.
