Who are Priyansh Arya, Gurjapneet Singh and Vaibhav Suryavanshi?

Priyansh Arya

Priyansh Arya, the 23-year-old hard-hitting southpaw from Delhi, became the most expensive uncapped IPL player at the IPL Auctions 2025, on Monday. Following a bidding war involving multiple franchises, the Delhi opener was eventually bought by INR 3.80 Crore for Punjab Kings.

Arya gave an impressive account of his hard-hitting abilities in the Delhi Premier League 2024, topping the run-charts in the tournament with 608 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 198.69. The southpaw smashed two centuries and four fifties in the tournament, including smashing six sixes in an over against North Delhi Strikers spinner Manan Bharadwaj. Arya, who had top-scored for Delhi in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy last season, has carried forward his excellent form in the ongoing season as well, hammering 102 in Delhi's season opener against Uttar Pradesh.

Gurjapneet Singh

Gurjapneet Singh was picked up by Chennai Super Kings for a price of INR 2.2 Crore, seeing off competition from LSG and GT. A 6'3" Ludhiana-born left-arm seamer, has been making the right noises in the southern part of India. Having moved to Chennai at the age of 17, Gurjapneet made his first-class debut for Tamil Nadu in the current Ranji season. He went wicketless in his maiden innings, but in the second innings, he picked up 6 for 22 to skittle Saurashtra out for 94 to star in Tamil Nadu's innings victory. He has since picked up at least one wicket in each of his innings, and also impressed in his T20 debut, picking up 2 for 28 in his first Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy game against Tripura.

Gurjapneet first came into the picture in the Tamil Nadu Premier League in 2021, featuring for Dindugal Dragons, captained by R Ashwin, who will be his team-mate again at CSK. He picked up seven wickets in 9 matches, and had an economy of 6.54 in his first TNPL season. Having been on the sidelines due to an injury in 2022, Gurjapneet turned up for Siechem Madurai Panthers in TNPL 2023 and finished as the tournament's joint second-highest wicket-taker with 15 scalps. He played seven matches for the Panthers in 2024 as well, bagging seven wickets and finishing with an economy of 7.38.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, at the age of 13, became the youngest player to be picked at the IPL Auctions. The Bihar batter was snapped by Rajasthan Royals for INR 1.10 Crore.

A left-handed batter and slow left-arm spinner, Suryavanshi became the second youngest player to feature in Ranji Trophy when he made his debut against Mumbai in January earlier this year. He is yet to make an impactful contribution in domestic cricket, but was picked for the the emerging Asia Cup earlier this year. He recently struck a hundred for India U19 in a four-day game against Australia in Chennai.
