Mumbai win 41st Ranji Trophy title - Reactions

Chandrakant Pandit: Basically, Mumbai team is expected to win. We believe that beginning (well) is very important. We were very close, but that never put us down. The first game was the only shock for us this season. The team said we definitely have to go all out with our planning. We spent lot of time. Probably they must have not liked it, but I had to do a lot of talking and planning. I'm very happy that they've stuck to the plan.

Aditya Tare: I'd like to thank every Mumbaikar, fan, ex-cricketers and well-wishers for backing us throughout. The support staff, selectors and the team management were all on the same page. This is a dream we charted out together when we assembled in Chennai for the Buchi Babu tournament. Abhishek Nayar told us when we won Buchi Babu, we havent won a Ranji Trophy title, so that is a jinx we have broken this year.

Siddesh Lad: I had to make the most of the reprieve, I wanted to push our score ahead. We have worked a lot for this, we will party hard tonight.

Akhil Herwadkar: I am very excited, to be a part of the winning team has been a memorable experience.

Dhawal Kulkarni: It's really great to win the Ranji Trophy. Getting a fifer in the final is always special, I have worked extremely hard for it. We practiced a lot on our catching and it paid off in this match.

Abhishek Nayar: I thought shaving my beard off will bring us good luck. This is a very young team, winning with youngsters is a heartening moment for me. This is my fifth Ranji Trophy win, we worked collectively and toiled hard as an unit. We had a team meeting yesterday and all our plans worked out. Everyone has been tremendous.

Shardul Thakur: Getting a fifer in the Ranji Trophy is exceptional, it's a great feeling. I wanted to finish the game today itself, credit to the rest of the bowlers as well.

Suryakumar Yadav: We believed in each other. Yesterday, we sat together (at the end of the day's play) and had our plans. We knew we needed to step up, Lad was outstanding today, Sandhu has been sweating hard in the nets - with his batting. Today was his chance to come out and prove himself.

Sitanshu Kotak: Biggest positive is we came up from Group C. The way we played quarterfinal and semifinal was excellent. Just the way our fast bowlers bowled (was good). In this game, we were reasonable but not to the standard we showed in the whole season. I think (there are) a lot of positives when Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Bengal, UP, Delhi are not playing final and Saurashtra are. You want to win, but theres only one team that can win and they played well and all credit to them.

Jaydev Shah: Very disappointing, 'catches win matches', but I am happy with the way my team played. Lad and the last wicket stand was very crucial, they really played well, we will come back and try to win the title next time around. We have been to the final twice and we always aim to enter the title round. It's been a fantastic season for us. Cheteshwar Pujara, Jaydev Unadkat, Ravindra Jadeja, our coach, everyone has been supporting us well.
