Nottinghamshire picked up the first win of their Royal London One-Day Cup season, pipping Derbyshire in a tense rain-affected game at the County Ground in Derby. Set a revised target of 286 in 47 overs, Nottinghamshire were propped up by half-centuries from Alex Hales (77 off 58) and Riki Wessels (67 off 60) in a century stand for the second wicket. Samit Patel added another half-century as the visitors sauntered towards the target before rain arrived to swing the game back into the balance. Billy Root, brother of England Test captain Joe, scored an unbeaten 23 as Nottinghamshire saw the chase home with four balls to spare.
Earlier in the day, Derbyshire elected to bat and for the first time in the One-Day Cup history, managed to breach the 300-run mark in successive games. The platform for the competitive total of 303 was laid by a 148-run opening stand between captain Billy Godleman (90 off 97) and Ben Slater (72 off 94). Wayne Madsen, repreived on 12 when Michael Lumb dropped him, scored a quickfire unbeaten 66, but was unable to get enough on the board for Derbyshire to earn their second victory in three games.

Leicestershire bounced back from their defeat to Worcestershire with a 103-run demolition of Warwickshire at Grace Road. Mark Pettini scored a 131-ball 159 while Tom Wells and Aadil Ali chipped in with half-centuries to propel the hosts to a mammoth 363 for 7. Wells and Gavin Griffiths then took three wickets apiece as Warwickshire folded for 260 in 44 overs despite a valiant century from Sam Hain.
The hosts were up for the contest right from the get go when Ned Eckersley elected to bat on a batting beauty. Pettini's opening partner blazed to a 22-ball 34 in a 77-run opening stand. That followed a century stand between Pettini and Aadil Ali. While Pettini progressed smoothly past his century to a 150-plus score, Wells's 44-ball blitz worth 67 took Leicestershire to an imposing total.
Warwickshire's experienced batsmen William Porterfield and Jonathan Trott fell cheaply in the tall chase and even as Sam Hain soldiered on from his end, the visitors found no partnership of significance until keeper Tim Ambrose added 118 with Hain, raising some hopes of a successful Warwickshire chase. Wells and Aadil combined to dismiss Hain in the 39th over and Ambrose fell a couple of overs later. Four overs later, Warwickshire were bowled out for 260 - their second defeat on the bounce after a win against Northamptonshire to start the competition.

Peter Trego scored a stunning 135 against his former county as Somerset continued their unbeaten start to the Royal London One-Day Cup by chasing down a mammoth 352 against Kent in Taunton. Trego smashed half a dozen sixes and an equal number of fours in his 119-ball effort as Somerset got to the target with four wickets and 15 balls to spare.
Trego was ably supported by South Africa batsman Dean Elgar (55 off 57), with who he shared a 108-run stand after Somerset were reduced to 19 for 2 in the chase. James Hildreth then scored a blistering 64 while Adam Hose added 39 to guide a perfectly-paced chase to a successful culmination.
Kent, searching for their first win in the competition were powered to 352 thanks to contrasting centuries from opener Daniel Bell-Drummond and Alex Blake. Bell-Drummond played a controlled knock at the top of the order and got to his hundred off 113 balls. Blake, however, threw caution to the winds from the moment he walked in to bat in the 32nd over. The duo put on 120 for the fourth wicket before Blake powered on to complete a 46-ball hundred. He eventually finished with 116 off 58, studded with 10 fours and seven sixes and at a strike-rate of 200. It was a stunning batting effort but not quite enough to hold off the Somerset challenge, who moved on to six points from three games after yet another fantastic batting performance.

Essex nicked a one-wicket win over Surrey in a last over thriller at Kennington Oval, London.
Batting first, Surrey came up against a red-hot bowling attack with Neil Wagner, Matthew Quinn, Ravi Bopara and Simon Harmer all taking wickets. Ben Foakes top-scored for Surrey with a 92-ball 77 batting at five. It took a quick-fire 33 off 27 by Tom Curran to lift the team past the 200-run mark.
Chasing a sub-par total, Esses found themselves in trouble at 12-3 with Nick Browne, Alastair Cook and Varun Chopra back in the hut. Ravi Bopara and Tom Westley were involved in a 66-run stand for the fourht wicket, but Essex found themselves in a spot again, losing three wickets for 34 runs. At 128/7, they were staring down the barrel. However, Ryan ten Doeschate and Simon Harmer scored 40s to give the side some hope. With three needed off the final over and with just one wicket in hand, Harmer slammed Sam Curran for a boundary to seal a close win.

Sussex beat Glamorgan by 59 runs in a rain-affected encounter at County Ground, Hove.
Stiaan van Zyl slammed a 88-ball 96 and was well supported by middle-order batsmen Harry Finch and Ben Brown as Sussex put on 292/6 in their fifty overs. Marchant de Lange was the best bowler for Glamorgan with three wickets for 51 runs.
The match was reduced to 43 overs a side due to rain and Glamorgan needed 280 to win. They were in trouble at 18/2 but the Glamorgan fought back with some significant contributions from the middle order. Jacques Rudolf scored a patient fifty at the top of the order, while Colin Ingram and Kiran Carlson chipped in to leave the side at a decent position at 119/3 in the 26th over.
From there, Glamorgan's innings went downhill as they tried to up the ante. David Wiese, Jofra Archer and Danny Briggs all picked up wickets as Glamorgan were bowled out after 40 overs. Chris Cooke fought hard with 62 off 47 balls, but the knock went in vain.
