Things really couldn't have been easier for the Warriors as they knocked off the target with 25 balls to spare and in the process helped themselves to a bonus point. The 78-run stand between Smuts and Ackermann came at just the right time for them as they walked home through the severely sub-par total. Matching each other for the tempo with glorious shots, they did manage to ensure that despite the initial shake up, things never got out of hand. But the real damage was done in the first innings with the ball where the seamers stuck to the basics and executed them to perfection under muggy conditions and gloomy skies. Birch, with his three scalps managed to break the back of the Dolphin innings and all the other bowlers too chipped in to ensure that they never really recovered from their early set back. So all in all, five crucial points going into the bank of the Warriors and a perfect start to the tournament.
