To sum it up, two evenly-matched sides faced off today, but India's clinical performance in a crunch game just goes to show their temperament and the merit of their youth. They face off against Pakistan on the 30th of January, and although I am an unbiased commentator (wink wink), the prospect of an India-Pakistan encounter is still mouth-watering to say the least, and we can't wait to bring you the action from the remaining knockouts. Shaw looked composed as ever, and showered compliments on his team. Sounded low-key even about the Indo-Pak semi-final. Saif Hassan, on the other hand, looked understandably deflated during his interview...

Prithvi Shaw, India captain: All the credit to our boys. They did well, they were pumped up. Fast bowlers and spinners executed the plans well that we discussed during the practice sessions. We have someone bowling in the 140s and it helps when they pick up wickets in the powerplay. Abhishek is a great all-rounder, fields really well, bowls well, and can hit some big sixes. (About Gill's MoM performance) He batted really well. I really enjoy batting with him. He loves playing his shots. The plan was simple: we needed to wait for the loose balls. We wanted to take the spinners on, and their spinners were bowling quite well so we were just taking singles and rotating the strike (to keep the scoreboard ticking). (About the athletic fielding) Our fielders, including our quicks, are excellent athletes, especially Kamlesh (Nagarkoti), so that's a good asset to have. (About the prospect of a semi-final against Pakistan) It will be quite challenging and we are looking forward to it.

Saif Hassan, Bangladesh captain: We started bowling quite good, but we couldn't keep going. They had a partnership in the middle but our spinners did well to restrict them. (About Onik's injury) He is alright, and has given his 100% today. We could have been more positive with the bat. If we were positive in the beginning, it would have been easier in the middle order. Plan was to not lose wickets in the first ten overs, but we didn't succeed in doing that.

Shubman Gill, Player of the Match: The wicket was on the slower side. We had to adjust against the spinners. We were trying to get 280-300. But, when the spinners came on, we came to know that the wicket was on the slower side. So, we thought 250-260 should be good. He (Rahul Dravid) is a great man. He always says me to play along the ground; don't try too much aerial shots (gets loud applause from his teammates). We are all excited to play against Pakistan. It'll be a great match.

17:29 Local Time: So as Rahul Dravid serenely walks out to congratulate his boys, we have an India-Pakistan semi-final to look forward to in addition to the Afghanistan-Australia game. The Indian batting recovered well to start with, after a quick setback of Kalra. Gill and Shaw put up a good partnership but there were very few good stands after Shubman Gill fell. Finally, India fell about 15 runs short of what Shubman Gill thought was a par score, and were bowled out for 265. However, India were absolutely supreme with the ball, getting wickets with the old ball and new, with their spinners and their pacers, and Bangladesh simply couldn't handle the heat of the fiery Indian bowling line-up. Other than Pinak Ghosh at the top, no one showed any resistance or character and they fell like a pack of cards. Never looked like they would make it through the run-chase. Either way, a great (albeit one-sided) encounter between the two-sides results in India achieving a resounding win against Bangladesh. We'll be back with the presentations in a bit.
