And just like that, another league comes to an end. But it would take a while for the hangover to die down, rather literally for the Tallawahs. In a world where there's a new T20 league coming up every other day the CPL, continues to be one of those rare few memorable ones. The cricket was always good, but it's the massively improved over-rates that deserve special mention this season. Rovman Powell | Winning captain: Words won't be adequete to describe what I feel. The emotions that I had will come out now. The back room staff played their part. Special mention to my 16-17 players. I formed a leadership group and were an integral part in pushing the team. Our overseas players deserve mention too. At one stage it felt like we were out, but now we are CPL champions. We used disrespect as motivation. The guys were hungry. After we were put under pressure after their powerplay, we just hung in. We were prepared to chase 180-200. The first hundred that Brandon scored was in a losing cause, but it was a fantastic hundred. Brooks' hundred was fantastic too. Different players stood up for us. It is a step in the right direction. I have captained a few teams and hopefully I can keep learning. My family has been instrumental in pushing me a certain direction. I want to say speical thanks to the Guyaneese supporters. I thought after we beat Guyana, they would turn against us. It felt like a home game for us. I would like to dedicate this win to them.

Kyle Mayers | Losing captain: It was a tough pill to swallow. We lost only three games in the season. Kudos to the opposition, I thought they played really well. We were 20 runs short after the start we got. I thought we should have got to 180. The ball got pretty well. Our main bowler, Mujeeb, really struggled to grip the ball. But we could have been a bit more disciplined with the ball. It was a brilliant season for us. In the last two seasons we were last and second last. To lose only three games is a very big improvement and hopefully we can cross the line in the next season.

Brandon King | MoS: Obviously I set goals for myself before the tournament. One was to win the trophy and then to end up as the highest run-scorer too was amazing. I was match ready. Brooks played a fantastic innings at the start, he kept us going towards the score. [Comparing 2019 and 2022 seasons] I am happy with both, this one more because we won the title. There is no special formula, just work hard, believe in your ability and back yourself. The team is amazing. Everyone believes in each other. We stuck together through the highs and lows.

Fabian Allen | MoM: I dedicate this win to my father who passed away. The skipper came to me and told me that I had to play a big role. I just executed it. We had a meeting that if we batted well till the tenth over, we could win this. I would want to thank everyone, and all my friends back home.

Chris Green: Amazing to be a part of this team. The team has stuck through thick and thin.

Mohammad Amir: Early on I was disappointed (at not playing today). But now it is all fine. It is an amazing feeling and I don't have words to explain. Great feeling for the Jamaica to have won for the first time since 2016. I was frustrated after the start they got. It was a pure, pure team effort. It is my second season in the CPL and it was an amazing experience. I look forward to the next year.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul: Very, very excited. Felt good to be part of the coaching staff. All the guys performed well and it felt good to see the crowd supporting us. We were amazing in the two games leading upto today and the guys finished the job tonight.

Sir Curtly Ambrose: It (the title) means a lot. Nobody gave us a chance to get past the first round, let alone win it. Was a wonderful performance and we were deserving winners. We didn't rely on one or two players, at any stage any player could step up. We have been a family and we believed that we could win the trophy. And we did.

Imad Wasim: It's amazing. Great bunch of guys and I'm very glad. In T20, at the end of the tournament you need to get the momentum which we did. The game before also, the crowd here supported us and today too. They've been terrific. He (Powell) has matured a lot as the captain and is one of the best players in the West Indies. He's been playing well across the globe, in the IPL and all, I'm sure this will be a great achievement for him.

And rightly so, Jamaica were a team that finished fourth, were underdogs all through, scraping their way through in the league stage. Never mind, this is the stage where it all counts. This is the match where it all counts. And Barbados, the ones who bossed the league, were a little too cold on the big night. They underscored with the bat, and with the ball, were just not penetrative. Kyle Mayers struck in his first over itself, but that was it. Shamrah Brooks took the bowling on with some serious hits, and then Brandon King just continued with the momentum once Brooks fell, making sure he jammed the door, and stole the trophy. The Tallahwahs have gone on a victory lap around the outfield, and it could be a while before we get the official presentations. Do stick around ..
