The WBBL trophy has been presented to McGrath who is quickly mobbed by her mates as they pose for the photographs. Fair to say that this party will go on for a few more days. What a surreal feeling it must be for them! They were close in recent times, most notably last year where they lost the final but this season, they went the extra yard and to beat the mighty Sixers in their den for the title is no mean feat. The Sixers will be disappointed for sure but as Perry said, it was a great comeback season for them after last year's sorrows. Tahlia McGrath | Strikers captain: It hasn't sunk in yet. It has been bloody special. Been a crazy week to be fair. We didn't know if we'll make the final or not, whether we will finish second or third or fourth. Not a great deal of sleep with the travelling. But this group was hungry and determined to win. Last year hurt for sure. Had a great season and felt short at the final hurdle. But we had been building for the last few years and failing at the last hurdle. This feels special, we were determined this season. Thanks to Cricket Australia, the sponsors and the public.

Ellysse Perry | Sixers captain: It's been a wonderful season for us. Enjoyed each other's company. Obviously today didn't go to plan but to be in this position (after last season's disappointment) is a great feeling. Very good to be back here (at North Sydney Oval) and the crowd has been amazing. To have such a crowd for women's cricket, for both teams, is really good. Congratulations to Tahlia and her team, they've been knocking the door for some years now. Congratulations to our entire group and support staff, unfortunate that it didn't to plan today but I can't thank you all enough for the fun. We've done a great job to bring cricket back to North Sydney Oval. Bolty (Bolton) has been a fantastic servant of the game, she has won so many games over the years and I'm sure she isn't done yet, because she still has so much to give. Thanks a lot to the crowd once again.

Deandra Dottin | Player of the Match: Means a lot to me. Been a long season. Came here and blended well with the team. First time in a WBBL final and feels good. I wanted to stay till the end, so that we could get a good score on the board. In power surge, didn't go to plan for us. Always good to get two of their top batters early to keep them on the backfoot.

Tegan McPharlin: It's a dream come true, couldn't have asked for anything more. This is just outstanding, just love this group. It has been a beautiful season, have played well throughout the season. My mom and dad, they are here, can't thank them enough. And also a lot of other supporters, would love to thank everyone.

Madeline Penna: Feeling way better (than last year), so proud of the girls, so proud. I spent a lot of time being injured, have been working on myself. Tried to back myself. Learnt a lot from the last season. It was more of self belief. I am hard on myself, it was about backing myself. I know I had the ability. We put in all the hard work this season, we had to put up a big fight. It was a great performance.

Schutt: That was crazy, we got the best bowling attack, always confident of the girls. We didn't have a great total, but we defended it, we can defend any total. We were pumped coming into this game. I was pretty pumped up. We just had one game to go, and we finished it off. We have that spirit, always knew that.

20:44 Local Time, 09:44 GMT, 15:14 IST: Scenes of joy out there among the Strikers players. It's taken them eight seasons to get their hands on the silverware but as they say, never say never. They didn't have a par score to defend and against the intimidating Sixers line-up at North Sydney Oval, the odds were stacked against them. But with the best bowling unit of the tournament, McGrath's girls roared back in style, slicing through the hosts' top order in the first six overs. Sixers were reeling at 17/4 after six overs and it just looked like a big mountain to climb from thereon. Perry and Bolton did fight, as did Ecclestone and Brown later on, but you just got the feeling that the Strikers were always a bit ahead of the game due to that exceptional new-ball burst. Special mention to McGrath's captaincy, she was aggressive right through and her move to bring Brown to take out the well-set Perry has to be one of the plays of the game.
