Jadeja, POTM: Was a day game so the wicket was slow. It was expected to be slow because it was quite warm. Wanted to build a partnership of 30-40 so that we have a platform for the end. The bowlers bowled well. Always looks a flat wicket in powerplay. But as the ball gets older, it doesn't come on very well. When you're playing at a new venue, you don't have an idea of how the pitch will be. Felt we were 15-20 short. My role is to build a partnership if we lose early wickets.

Ruturaj, CSK captain: Everyone believed the wicket was slow. Even low bounce. Just that the start we got, we were thinking of pushing till 180-200. After losing wickets, thought 160-170 was a good score. Don't know what he's doing, but even in preseason he was clicking 150kph (on Simarjeet). He didn't get too much chances, but it's never too late. Were thinking of going with impact batter, but then we thought the batter will give 10-15 runs, but he could give 2-3 wickets. Some of the guys were struggling with flu. Weren't even sure till the morning who's playing or not. To get the win, really happy with that.

Tushar Deshpande: I'm very happy today as it was a low-scoring game in terms of the matches going on. This was the game we wanted to win badly. It was bad luck last game, I tried my best to play that one, but couldn't. It was a crunch game for us and to start well was very important. Dharamsala at high altitude the ball does something and my job at the front?was to take wickets and it went well today. It was a bit slow, the pitch was quite stopping?a bit. If you hit the length hard, it was not easy to hit the horizontal bat shots so we just backed our length and kept it simple. Just tried to hit the top of off with the new-ball.

Sam Curran | PBKS Captain: Thought we bowled really well. Rahul Chahar and Harshal bowled really well, was pretty happy at the halfway point but unfortunately it wasn’t to be. The wicket was probably slower than we thought, we expected a little more pace and bounce, it was pretty similar throughout the game. Couple of days off and we go against RCB in a few days time so we need to move on and stay headstrong.

You wondered how good their score of 167 was at the halfway stage, but Punjab Kings didn't even get close against some good bowling on a slow pitch. Deshpande was on fire in the powerplay, knocking over Bairstow and Rossouw in the same over while Santner gave nothing away from the other end. CSK have been reluctant to start with spin in the powerplay, but the introduction of Santner today really gave them an added dimension. Punjab Kings did look in with a shot when Prabhsimran and Shashank had a brisk partnership of 53 for the third wicket. Things were evenly poised at that stage. But Jadeja came to the party and bowled a spell of 3/20 to turn the game completely in favour of CSK. Simarjeet Singh was impressive as well with his pace through those middle overs, making it a clinical performance with the ball from the visitors.
