Bazball will become a talking point yet again with England losing badly, but it would be really surprising to see a change in approach because is all fairness, this is just the first loss. Ben Stokes tastes defeat for the first time as captain, Brendon McCullum for the first time as England coach. Dean Elgar and co. will celebrate long into the night for that stupendous performance. These two sides meet again on August 25 in Manchester, let’s hope for a more even contest then. For now, it’s a wrap from me Saurabh, on behalf of Ramakrishnan MS and Praveen. Stay well!
Kagiso Rabada | Player of the Match: It’s always special to contribute to team success. For us to get over the line at Lord’s, really special. (On Lord’s fifer) To be honest, I didn’t know about those stats. All I want to do is stick to the processes, contribute to the team and let the processes take care of the rest. You always pick up from experiences, bowling on pitches here - they aren’t as quick as back home. It was about adjusting the lines and bowling with the Dukes ball. (On nickname for pace quartet) I’ll let you guys decide on that. Kesh (Keshav Maharaj) has been an outstanding performer, and he did it again with those two early breakthroughs, nobody would have expected that. Glad we could finish this with two days to spare.
Dean Elgar: This game ended quickly. We thought they would fight back hard. The boys did a great job. I've got good coaching staff and a very good think-tank behind me to make those decisions (about captaincy). Kesh worked out very well for us. Sometimes you got?to go with?your gut feel. He (Erwee) is pretty feisty when he gets going. Great member to have in the team. He has started well. We will enjoy today.
In very battable conditions, with skilled batters in the side, England set out to wipe off 161 first and then set a defendable target. But Elgar stumped them by bringing on Maharaj as first change. Kesh got two before lunch. Ngidi got Root cheaply after the break and then England bumped into a fiery Nortje where his teammates had to let his roar finish in the celebrations before hugging him. Suddenly England were six down. Broad threw his willow around and got some runs off edges too. But the end was evident as KG and Jansen applied the finishing touches. Gee, this Test match has ended in just over six sessions with more than half a day lost to rain on Day 1.
15:49 Local Time, 14:49 GMT, 20:19 IST: Bowled out in 45 overs in the first innings, 37.4 overs in the second. This is a proper thrashing from the Proteas with an innings to spare. England were blown away in that spell after lunch by Nortje where he took 3 wickets in 10 balls bowling 150+. Yes, South Africa had the upper hand after the innings, yes they have a quality bowling attack, but this ended rather quickly than expected for the hosts. Before the game Elgar said how England have played recently didn't matter to his team. He won the toss and chose to bowl. KG got a fifer in the first innings. Elgar and Erwee set a brilliant base to push England back, but Stokes inspired his side yesterday after Tea, but his side lost the plot towards close of play where Maharaj and Jansen smashed 50 runs in 5 overs at one point. And they stretched the lead to 161 this morning.

Rabada to Anderson, no run, swinging down leg
KALINND SHARMA: Keshav Maharaj often goes under the radar but he is a vital cog in the team. Keeps the pressure up, doesn't give anything away, and allows other bowlers to capitalise on the pressure created by him. Moreover, gives valuable runs down the order which are very handy in low scoring matches
Rabada to Anderson, no run, pokes and misses! Good length delivery angling away, Anderson looks to defend and misses
James Anderson, left handed bat, comes to the crease
Rabada to Stokes, out Caught by Maharaj!! It is surely ending this session. Stokes plays a massive slog with no hope of his side being bailed out. Maharaj moves to the left and catches this mistimed slog. In the slot from KG to tempt Stokes and the England captain is in the trap. Stokes c Maharaj b Rabada 20(28) [4s-2]
