Tagenarine Chanderpaul, player of the match: It was good to go out there and get some runs. The pitch was spinning a bit so it was good to get some practice coming into this game. Kraigg (Brathwaite) is a guy that cherishes his wicket and tries to stay out there for as long as possible, I try to go out there and do the same. It's a record to cherish, I just hope we can keep going from strength to strength.

Craig Ervine, Zimbabwe captain: Did feel it took forever, it was such an exciting Test match. I thought there was a lot of fight from the boys for five days. First two days, there was not much for the bowlers but we fought back well and then Gary and Mavuta brought back us in the game with a great partnership. The debutants, Kaia and Makoni, were excellent as well. The squad will remain the same for the second Test.

Kraigg Brathwaite, West Indies captain: It was a commendable effort from us, must say well done to the team. Zimbabwe batted well in the first innings, it was a good contest. After having the runs on the board, we had the belief that we could win. We knew it would have been hard work but Gary (Ballance) and co batted well. Need to commend our bowlers, they came out and worked hard. Wickets with the new ball would have been crucial but Zimbabwe batted well, they showed some fight especially with the new ball. Pleased with the overall team effort. Chanderpaul is a fighter, this is only the beginning for him.

Although marred by rain, the first two days were highlighted by centuries from Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul. They shared a record opening partnership before Chanderpaul went on to convert his maiden Test hundred into a double. That allowed the West Indies to declare after posting 447/6. Despite a decent start from their openers, Zimbabwe lost their way with the bat as they lost a flurry of wickets. At one stage, it looked like the Windies would close the game out by asking Zimbabwe to follow-on before bowling them out again. A heroic century from Gary Ballance, however, not only saved his team from that embarrassment but it also helped them make a bold but tactical decision to declare at the end of Day 4. It left the West Indies with a lead of 68 and despite their openers not managing to replicate their performances from the first innings, Reifer and Blackwood added some quick runs allowing them to declare and set Zimbabwe a 272-run target. The hosts did lose 6 wickets on a slowish track where the odd ball kept low and the odd one turned substantially, but Masakadza and Tsiga kept their cool and ensured that the match ended in a draw.

17:43 Local Time, 15:43 GMT, 21:13 IST: The game ends in a draw as expected then. It did get a little close for Zimbabwe but Tsiga and Masakadza manage to hold fort to deny the West Indies victory. It was always going to be difficult chasing 272 on a Day 5 surface and Zimbabwe did fairly well to keep the visitors at bay. The Windies brought a couple of interesting ideas to the table, including asking Holder and Mayers to bowl spin but none of them bore fruit as both sides walk back undefeated. A disappointing but unsurprising end to the game. All that rain we had earlier in the game ate away nearly a day of play and with the surface continuing behave fairly decently, a draw was the only result on the cards.
