Alyssa Healy: Pretty happy with the win. Getting those two points. Think we could have been clinical with the bat. We did pretty well to chase it down. Happy to spend time in the middle, nice to contribute the way we did. Happy to spend some time at the crease and gain some confidence. Would have been better if I would have been there in the end to finish.

Heather Knight: Really pleased with the bowling. Bell was at her best today, she was outstanding. Good control of line and length. Really pleased with her. We are not too far away. We got off to starts, but we couldn't get those big scores and partnerships that were needed. There was a bit in the wicket throughout the innings. We could have been really in the game with 20 runs more.

Gardner, Player of the Match: It's an honour to play for the country. It's special to play in my home town. Started the Ashes the way we wanted to (with a win.) The conditions were pretty tricky. There was a bit in the wicket for the bowlers, really pleasing. With a bit of natural variation, there were deliveries that turned for me.

Garth, Sutherland and King bagged a couple of wickets each, while Garnder was the pick of the bowlers as she took three wickets and bowled an economical spell. A few England batters got off to starts, but none were able to convert those starts into formidable scores, hence the visitors couldn't achieve a substantial total. In reply, the Aussies lost an early wicket in the form of Litchfield, however, Alyssa Healy played a skipper's knock. There were wickets falling from one end, but Healy kept scoring runs from the other end. She had a crucial partnership of 61 runs with Mooney for the third wicket and later had another useful partnership of 40 with Gardner for the fifth wicket. As a result of that platform laid by their captain and the crucial knock by Gardner down the order, Australia Women won comfortably by 4 wickets and more than 11 overs to spare.
