We were looking at 165 to be honest because the wicket was sticky. Anything between 170 and 180 and we knew we would win the game. (On his keeping) I have been doing it for four years, honestly I do not enjoy it but have to do a job for the team. Saurabh and I go back a long way. I was telling him that you do not make me run for 30 meters. I really do not have a short temper (laughs). We shouldn't get complacent, a few areas are still a concern and am sure we would address it in home conditions. We have to step up our game now for the play-offs.

Rohit Sharma: Finishing on top of the table is something we spoke about at the start of the game. This is the end of the league for us and we wanted to play good cricket. That's exactly what we did, we batted, bowled and fielded well. It was good to see and it goes on to show that we have a great bench strength. The boys have proved their bit whenever they've got opportunities. They have been proven match winners and it was a perfect case of playing a perfect game. They were going at 10 an over but we kept picking wickets which kept us in the game. We were not panicking and were just executing our plans. When the batsmen come hard, we have to stay calm and we did just that. Winning always helps and we expect to carry the momentum forward. One half of the tournament is over, we are entering a little part and we need to see who we play in the play-offs.

Gambhir: It was a very chaseable total. If we had batted sensibly we would have chased it down, but there were some irresponsible shots. Had someone batted till the end, we could have chased it down. I thought we were trying to chase it down in 10-12 overs. But the way bowlers bowled, it was a good effort to restrict them (Mumbai) to 173. On this kind of wicket where the ball was getting wet, it was unbelievable. We were one batter short so we had to take the responsibility. We have to pull up our socks. If we bat like this, it does not matter whether we are in the play-offs or not. If we have to win the tournament we will have to bat sensibly. We cannot do anything now, we will have to see how other teams go from here.

So MI notch up their 10th win and will end the league stage as table toppers. The strength in their squad was there for all to see today. They came into this game to test their bench strength in Rohit's own words and boy did they do it or what. Tiwary and Rayudu made fifties while Vinay Kumar - playing his first game nipped out Lynn and the dangerous Pathan. Not to mention Southee's opening over which set the tone. And when KKR were in the hunt, Hardik Pandya bowled a match changing spell. This win came despite a drop catch and a clear caught behind not given. Shows how strong MI are. But you have to question some of the KKR batsmen's shot selection and their methods. Certainly dubious and not at all in tune with the situation. Now they have to settle for either third or fourth when second spot was in their own hands. And they have messed it up badly. Will they regret it? Only one can wait and watch...

Poor Nand Kishore had no other option but to agree. But a clear edge on that. So well done. UltraEdge shows nothing though. But the seam changed direction after passing the bat which is an indicator.
