England vs South Africa, 3rd T20I - Live Cricket Score, Commentary

With less than three months to go for the T20 World Cup, England find themselves with plenty of thinking to do. Post-Morgan, they've struggled to up their game. The lack of pace in the bowling department has been a constant worry and they'll have to hope that Jofra Archer and Mark Wood are back in the mix as soon as possible. The top-order looks short of runs with Jason Roy getting frustrated with himself and his mode of dismissals. The swag that constituted England's batting has gone down in the past couple of series and some worries have started pegging them back. They have a T20I series in Pakistan ahead of the mega tournament, one final chance to iron out some of their chinks. On the other hand, South Africa are looking like a well-oiled unit, they were without skipper Bavuma for the entirety of the white-ball series but that didn't hurt them in any manner. The batting looks cracking, even in the absence of Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen, who was rested for the T20I series. The depth in their bowling is quite frightening as well and they loom ready for a big crack at that World Cup. England will now turn their attention towards fine tuning for the 3-match Test series which starts on August 17th. On the other hand, South Africa will continue their white-ball tour with a couple of T20Is against Ireland in Bristol before starting their preparations for the Test series. David Miller, winning captain: Defintely it is a privilege to play 100 games for the country. I thought our openers did well. The batters batted well throughout the series. We quickly forgot about the first game and bounced back in a phenomenal manner. Stubbs has improved in domestic cricket. We are backing our process from the last 18 months. Our guys have been raising their hands and performing at key moments.

Jos Buttler, losing captain: Was a good score on the board. I still had confidence in the group but we fell well short. We lacked intent and confidence. We never tried to wrestle back the initiative. We haven't performed as well we have liked. We will try to get back to the way we want to play. We have gone through changes as a team. It is not because of lack of trying. Guys are desperate to get back to top form. Any time there is a WC, you are excited as a group.

Reeza Hendricks, Player of the Series: Very happy with my performance. Was well supported by Aiden (Markram) today. In the last game by Rilee (Rossouw). I try go out and score runs. I have a job to score and do well. Whenever you step on to the field, you want to do well. I definitely thought it was a competitive score. It was a tricky wicket. We definitely improved after Bristol.

Tabraiz Shamsi, Player of the Match: I enjoyed myself really. Credit to the batters to put up an above par score. The bowlers before me deserve all the credit. I reaped all the rewards. We got a pounding at Bristol. But I keep in mind how to bounce back. Before I came to the game, my wife casually said I want four wickets (laughs).

Mo Ali, Player of the Summer: Yeah it has been decent. Disappointing summer for the team. I do enjoy batting. That knock at Bristol was the highlight for me. I think Jos as a captain wants us to take responsibility. My role is to be a floater. When I get the nudge, to go in and enjoy myself. I got decent form playing at the top-order for Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Lost both the ODI and T20I series to India, a 1-1 draw in the ODI series and now another 1-2 loss in the T20Is, as England conclude a winless home white-ball season. The batting never really got going today, but to be fair, 191 was a massive ask on this pitch, which helped both pace and spin alike. They needed a big start from their captain, but Buttler was the first to fall and he was followed by the out-of-sorts Jason Roy. The asking rate put the middle-order under immense pressure and none of them got going. South Africa were superb with the ball and their fielders backed them up, as exemplified by that catch from Tristan Stubbs. Jonny Bairstow was left waging a lone battle as wickets fell around him, but even he couldn't really get going, before becoming the final wicket to fall.
