Bhanuka Rajapaksa | Galle Gladiators captain: I am very satisfied with the boys. We didn't win the title, but the effort put in was amazing. Yet again we finished second, hoping we can do it next year. It's like playing a series against Jaffna. The effort was put in by the openers. Danushka showed his class. We lost a couple of quick wickets and we lost the momentum. We misfielded too many and lost the match by 20+ runs. Misfielding affected the game. Personally, I am happy with the performance and the leadership that I showed. I want to thank the supporting staff, all the franchises, all the doctors and everyone who was behind this.

Earlier, after opting to bat, Jaffna posted 201 on the board on the back of fifties from Avishka Fernando and Kohler-Cadmore. There were crucial contributions from the other three batters too and the scoreboard pressure probably got the better of Galle. 2020 final -- Jaffna beat Galle by 53 runs | 2021 final -- Jaffna beat Galle by 23 runs. Chasing a 200+ target, Gunathilaka came out all guns blazing, blasted a 19-ball half-century and brought the asking-rate under 9RPO in the fourth over. Wanindu Hasaranga was greeted with a one-bounce four but the wrist-spinner removed the dangerous Gunathilaka with his second ball. Ben Dunk perished first ball and Hafeez threw his wicket away via a run-out. Just when a partnership started to build between Kusal Mendis (the leading run-getter of the season) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa, the captain holed out in the deep and Mendis found himself in another mix-up. The Gladiators never recovered from those blows as Jaffna kept exerting pressure. Special mention to their fielding too - the Kings were brilliant in the field unlike their opponents.
