Nigar Sultana: We batted well in the powerplay, then we lost to back-to-back wickets and we couldn’t finish well in the death overs. This is the team that is doing well for the last six months, we are having a tough time now but we need to keep calm now and focus on the process. She is very energetic in her batting, she is enjoying in the middle, if she could go on, she could have scored her first half-century. As a young player, she has a lot to improve on but I'm happy with the way she is playing. As a batting unit, we have been struggling. We didn’t bowl well in the powerplay but we bowled well after the powerplay. We tried everything so we wanted to do something different and I introduced Ritu and it worked for us.

Smriti Mandhana: Important win for us, Shafali took on the bowlers initially so it became easier for me to rotate the strike. We don’t come into the match watching a stat or something, good to bat with Shafali, good to know that we have completed 2000 runs in partnership. The way she was striking it today all I had to do was to give her strike. Really happy to play whatever role comes my way.

After restricting Bangladesh to a below-par score, India were always the favourites at the halfway stage. Shafali Verma took off with flying colours and played some eye-catchy shots to make full use of the powerplay. Mandhana played second fiddle to her and both of them took the game away from the opposition. Shafali went on to raise a brilliant fifty. The duo stitched 91 runs together before a one-handed stunner from Ritu Moni off her own bowling saw the back of Shafali. The Bangladeshi bowlers tightened things after that but there was no scoreboard pressure on the visitors. India did lose a couple of more wickets as Bangladesh did well to drag the match to the 19th over but the result was never in question. India sailed to another comfortable victory with 9 balls to spare.
