Gary Ballance's superb ton on day 4 effectively shut the door on any chances of a West Indies win unless we witness something truly historic. West Indies' best chance remains of trying to bat out the day. 438 is the target but West Indies will be eyeing the 90 overs a lot more keenly. Darren Bravo and Devon Smith have put on a good stand so far. They need to ensure that they carry on with the good work. England need to strike early but have the liberty to keep looking for wickets without the added trouble of trying to defend runs. James Anderson is on the verge of breaking Ian Botham's record as well. He will be expected to lead the attack once again and set the tone early on day 5.

Broad and Tredwell open the attack on day 5. Broad is attacking the stumps constantly. There is a silly mid off and silly mid on in place. The pitch seems to be holding up pretty nicely.
Attack, attack and more attack has been England's strategy. Smith and Samuels have looked only to defend. They've done it effectively.
Devon Smith ran out of patience after a sedate start on day 5. Tredwell flighted one and Smith, looking for a release shot, came down the track and mistimed the loft to mid on. You can call it a needless shot but that's the way it goes. Batsmen need runs now and then to keep going. Smith perished in the process. Good on Tredwell for enticing that shot.
Stumping missed by Buttler. Samuels is enticed by Tredwell but both batsmen and 'keeper are done in by the extra bounce. The ball actually shot through Samuels' inside edge and past the face of a crouching Buttler. Extremely tough. For he was blinded first by the batsman and then stunned by the bounce.
Marlon Samuels did not make much of the reprieve he got in the previous over. He slashed out at a James Anderson delivery and edged to gully. Another important strike for England in the morning session. That also puts Anderson on level with Ian Botham as the leading wicket-taker in England Test history.
West Indies are going down quickly. Chanderpaul fell to Joe Root just ahead of lunch. Even a review could not save him. England need just five more wickets now.
James Anderson came level with Ian Botham's record tally of 383 Test wickets when he got a well set Samuels edging to gully. On either side of that wicket, the spinners struck. Tredwell forced Devon Smith to chip one to mid on while Root got the dangerous Chanderpaul just before lunch. West Indies needed a big stand today to tray and save the Test. England have done well to strike at regular intervals. They could not have asked for a better session. Can West Indies last the day? Can Anderson break Botham's record? All that coming up soon. Denesh Ramdin and Jermaine Blackwood have started well after lunch. They've lofted the spinners confidently and are mixing it with solid defense. Little steps taken but a lot more to go.
Very poor stroke from Jermaine Blackwood. He looks to pull a short delivery after coming down the track but gets an under-edge through to the 'keeper. The tail is exposed now. Extremely poor judgement from the well set batsman. He will get a earful in the dressing room.
England took the 2nd new ball. James Anderson came back into the attack but Denesh Ramdin is showing a lot of fight. He's been given good company by Jason Holder. Not much batting to come after this. England know that well and have been trying hard to break through. How long can this duo fight it out?
Ramdin and Holder have given West Indies hope. It could have been a better session for West Indies if Blackwood had not played a poor shot against Jordan. That was the lone wicket to fall. England probed with the second new ball but to no avail. The pitch does have some uneven bounce but nothing alarming. The last session promises to be an enthralling one. Can West Indies hang in there for a draw? Can England wrap things up quickly? Not much batting to come after this duo. 31 overs left in the day. We'll be back again in a short while. Don't miss it.
Excellent knocks by both Ramdin and Holder. England will be getting a little worried right now. Just under 25 overs left to play out the day or West Indies. With four wickets in hand, that is doable.
So after 30 years, England finally have a new leading wicket-taker. James Anderson broke a stubborn stand when Ramdin nicked to slip. Sir Ian Botham's record has finally been broken and he himself applauds from the stands. Can't get better for someone playing his 100th Test. To make it even better, it was an important breakthrough for England. Just three needed for a win now.
It was a fascinating end to quite a riveting Test in the end. Jason Holder, Denesh Ramdin and Kemar Roach played out of their skins to eke out a famous draw. James Anderson became England's leading Test wicket-taker but even he couldn't dislodge the lower middle order. West Indies started the daay with 8 wickets in hand but lost their way in the first session. After the departure of Blackwood, West Indies turned things around slowly and confidently. Ian Bell's first innings ton set up a big score for England. They gained a big lead despite Jermaine Blackwood's maiden Test ton. Gary Ballance led England's effort in the second innings with a fine ton as England set West Indies a target of 438 to get in little over four sessions. West Indies' best option was to try and bat out the day. Enter the hero - Jason Holder. A gutsy ton under pressure and crucial partnerships with Roach and Ramdin saved West Indies the blushes. It was his first Test ton and also maiden first class ton. This draw sets up the series nicely. West Indies will take a lot of heart out of it but so too will England. They will be frustrated at not finishing things off but there are plenty of positives from both sides to promise us more exciting contests in the next two Tests. For now, West Indies will rejoice while England will concentrate on the glass half full.
