Hello and welcome to the live blog of the 12th match of the Big Bash League. Two teams that are right at the bottom lock horns with each other. Brisbane are yet to open their account this season, they have played three and lost all of them. Meanwhile, the only win Hobart have recorded this season came against Brisbane. Hobart have won the toss and will bat first.

Alright then, Tim Paine and Ben Dunk are in the middle, Josh Lalor will bowl the first over and we are all set to rock and roll. Paine strikes a lovely four to the point fence and then takes a single to retain strike. Hobart are 9 for no loss after the opening over.
Ben Dunk was struggling to connect but smashes the first ball of the fourth over for a huge six. Paine too has been striking it beautifully and Hobart have got a solid start. The openers will look to set a platform for a late onslaught.
The West Indies legspinner is ranked No. 2 in the ICC World Twenty20 rankings. Can he give Brisbane the first breakthrough. Hobart are 45 for no loss after five overs. Yes he does! Full and on the stumps, Dunk cleared his front leg and tried to take on the fielder at square leg. He made a good connection but found Lendl Simmons, who accepts it with glee. Hobart are 50 for 1 in 6 overs and the stage is set for a Sanga special.
Badree has got two now. Paine was getting restless and Badree fired one flat and fast outside off. Paine came down the track but failed to connect and Peirson did the rest. George Bailey walks out to bat at No. 4.
Hobart have reached 111 for 2 in 12.3 over. Sangakkara and Bailey have done really well to keep the scoreboard moving but the team will need them in the middle at least till the 16th over with Darren Sammy to come. They've now added 50 in 28 balls and Badree is back into the attack.
Feldman gets the big wicket. Gets a beautiful yorker in, Sangakkara look to come down the track and hammer that one over the off side field. Misses it completely and the ball takes the timber. Sangakkara has done his bit with a 19-ball 32. Daniel Christian walks in to bat.
Hobart are losing the plot here. They had a steady stand for the third wicket between Sangakkara and Bailey but both have been dismissed in quick succession. It was short and hurried onto Bailey, he went for the flat-batted pull, spliced it towards mid-off, Feldman runs to his right and reverse cups it. Darren Sammy, who can inflict some serious damage, walks in to bat.
The all-rounder has hammered 194 off 4 to help the team post a formidable total. The platform was set by Dunk and Paine as the openers added 50 runs for the first wicket. Badree dismissed both of them but Sangakkara and Bailey did really well not to throw away the momentum. The duo scored 58 runs in five overs before Christian joined the party.
Alright then, Peirson and Simmons are out there in the middle. This is going to be a tough chase and Brisbane need a solid start. Tait bowls the first ball at 150 kph and squares up Peirson. Simmons keep the next two deliveries but can't handle the heat. Full toss on the stumps and Simmons makes room and misses it. Brisbane are 5 for 1 after the first over.
Brisbane have lost their openers in just 1.2 overs. That was a soft dismissal. A nothing ball and a nothing shot. Short and on off, Peirson doesn't go full throttle on the pull, whips it gently to square leg, Rose didn't move an inch to pouch that.
Lynn and Heazlett have done really well to steady the ship. They've used Tait's pace really well to take the team to 46 for 2 after five overs. Brisbane now need 149 from 90 at 9.93 runs per over.
Chris Lynn and Sam Heazlett added 79 runs in 7.4 overs but the rate kept climbing. Sammy struck in his second over. The all-rounder floated one outside off and Heazlett went for the cut. He got a bottom edge and the ball carried comfortably to Paine. Lynn gets to his seventh BBL fifty soon after.
Reardon falls. Chris Lynn is playing a lone hand here and the other batsmen need to play around him if they want to win this game. Rose takes an excellent catch. Top over from Boyce, he is delighted and is pumping the Hobart boys up, who seem to be a bit down with all the carnage. Fraction short, Reardon goes deep in the crease and pulls, couldn't quite get the elevation, Rose runs forward, dives full length and clings on with both hands.
The Brisbane captain has played really well and reaches his maiden Twenty20 century off 49 balls. Brisbane needed 39 off the last three over and Lynn wanted to dispatch the legspinner. Superb bowling from Boyce, he was not afraid to throw it up, Lynn cane down and went for the mow to deep mid-wicket, the ball took the top-edge Paine completed the catch.
So Brisbane fall short eventually. What a century from Chris Lynn. They were jolted early and Lynn did well to help the team recover. However, he ran out of partners and fell when the team needed 39 off the last three overs. Hobart made a great start but lost their way in the middle. Dan Christian hammered an unbeaten 56 to propel the team to 194, which proved just enough in the end. That's it from us then. Until next time ...
