That's all from us folks! Hope you enjoyed England's cracking win. Until next time then ...

Here's what the players had to say -

Jonny Bairstow - Player of the Match: "Very fortunate to travel to this amazing country. It's a case of giving yourself a bit of extra time at the top. You can be 1 or 2 off 10 balls but you can catch up later. Delighted to get the win. Opening the batting is different to batting in the middle order. My job now is to contribute with big hundreds. It's still work in progress. There was grip for our spinners, so maybe there was some moisture in the wicket early on. Decent toss to win. The catch I took was more luck than judgement. Can't wait for the Tests. First D/N Test as well here, so a new experience for everyone."

Chris Woakes - Player of the Series: "The ball's coming out alright. Wickets upfront are important, else the guys can take it away. It's nice to pick those wickets and thankfully I've been able to do that. A couple of wickets offered a bit. Pitches have been okay. You've to adapt to the conditions and realize what deliveries are best on that pitch. You've to think on your feet."

Williamson: "We lost the toss and they bowled very well. The ball did stand up a little bit but we had to weather that. Santner and Nicholls batted really well. A disappointing win from our side. It's such a shame. Putting all that aside, England are a very very good One-Day side and deserved to win the series. Too many soft dismissals throughout our innings. the wicket was a good surface and we did need a lot more from the bat. We weren't good today, which is such a tough pill to swallow. They have great depth, have a number of all-rounders and bat a long way down. So they can play the aggressive brand of cricket a lot longer. We know when we do well, we can beat anyone. The game keeps teaching us lessons."

Morgan: "Our bowlers set the tone. Probably a little bit of bounce early on, and we took advantage of that. We created opportunities by creating pressure. Spinners took opportunities of a little bit of turn here today. Woakes has been outstanding. He can bat as well, believe me. He's led our attack with the ball; just doesn't take the limelight. We did get the hundreds but the process through which we got them. Bairstow and Hales batted well but the game today was won by the bowling unit."

THAT'S THAT: Jonny Bairstow's blitz and an exceptional performance with the ball from Chris Woakes helped England seal the fifth and final ODI, and the series, against New Zealand with a seven-wicket win. Set 224 after Woakes and Adil Rashid picked up three wickets apiece, Bairstow hammered 104 off 60 to create and smooth passage and help the team cruise past the line.

In all fairness, the match and the win was set up by the bowlers. While Woakes and Rashid picked up the wickets, Mark Wood and Moeen Ali dried out the runs and never allowed the New Zealand innings to gain momentum. The lowest total defended at the Hagley Oval was 289 and the hosts fell way short of that mark.

New Zealand were left with an unkind cut early on when Ross Taylor was ruled out because of the injury he picked up during his heroic knock in the fourth game. With a placid track ahead of them, Eoin Morgan opted to field hoping to chase whatever total is set in front of them at the high-scoring venue. Chris Woakes gave them the perfect start as he dismissed Colin Munro on the third ball of the game to leave an early dent on New Zealand's ambitions. Woakes ended his first spell with figures of 6-1-13-1 and choked the runs to ensure the pressure fell squarely on the hosts.

New Zealand's middle-order fragility came back to haunt them as they lost wickets in clusters to find themselves tottering at 93 for 6. Knowing the obvious flaw, which had been exposed before in the series, Kane Williamson and Martin Guptill adopted the cautious approach after the early wicket. With the cushion of falling back on Taylor's experience not there, both Williamson and Guptill looked tentative and went into their shell as Woakes and Mark Wood tightened the noose.

Williamson could only manage 14 and fell in the tenth over to Wood with just 26 on the board. Guptill at one stage faced 10 consecutive dot balls before finally being able to break free. Tom Latham fell for 10 to Adil Rashid while Moeen Ali bowled Mark Chapman for a duck before Guptill fell to the legspinner for a 68-ball 47.

With six wickets down by the 27th over, New Zealand were in precarious position and needed Nicholls and Santner to take the innings deep. They scored freely, for a change, and struck half-centuries to revive the innings and gave the bowlers something to work with. Their stand was finally broken when Tom Curran dismissed Nicholls in the 44th over to delay the late flourish the hosts were looking for.

Woakes dismissed both Santner and Southee in the 49th over to ensure there was no late blitz to damage the exceptional work done throughout the innings.

At the half-way mark, Mike Hesson acknowledged they needed England at least 70 for 3 at some stage to be in the game. Instead, Bairstow's assault meant England raced to 65 for no loss after the Powerplay. The wicketkeeper-batsman cantered to his half-century off just 38 and picked up the pace even further after that.

England polished 151 of the target in the first 20 overs of the chase itself as Bairstow registered a 58-ball ton - his second consecutive ton of the series after his 138 in the last game. While the England spinners choked up the runs, Santner and Ish Sodhi leaked 66 from their combined eight overs in the first 20 overs. That hurt their chances as the hosts were banking on the spinners to stifle the England middle order after the pacers gave them the early breakthrough.

None of that happened as Bairstow and Hales, who for most parts played the silent partner, landed the final knockout punch. Bairstow, though, eventually fell after slamming his bat on the leg stump trying to dig out a yorker from Trent Boult. However, by the result was pretty much an obvious one.

Brief scores: New Zealand 223 in 49.5 overs (Mitchell Santner 67, Henry Nicholls 55; Chris Woakes 3-32, Adil Rashid 3-42) lost to England XX/XX in XX overs (Jonny Bairstow 104, Alex Hales 61) by XX wickets.

Upcoming ODI series of #ENGvIND will be an epic one. The best against the best. Englad have won all their last odi series' against sl,aus,sa,NZ India have all won their last odi series' against sl,aus,sa,NZ and England Along with 5 tests matches would be a great tour.#NZvENG

Hales gone

Santner gets one. Tossed up outside off, turning away and he dragged that straight to midwicket. England 177 for 2.

50 for Hales off 67 balls ...

WICKET

Finally a wicket for New Zealand. Boult gets the big fish. What an unfortunate way to get dismissed though. Was looking to attack Boult, made room to hit through the off side but the bat swing landed on the stumps. He was so deep in his crease. He falls for 104 off 60.

England 156 for 1.

Century for Bairstow

He gets there off 58 balls. His second consecutive ton in the series after his 138 in the last game. No bowler has escaped punishment so far. England have polished 151 of the target in the first 20 overs of the chase itself. While the England spinners choked up the runs, Santner and Ish Sodhi have leaked 66 from their combined eight overs so far. This has hurt their chances as the hosts were banking on the spinners to stifle the England middle order after the pacers gave them the early breakthrough. None of that has happened so far and a New Zealand win now looks highly unlikely.

100 UP

15.3 overs and England are surging ahead already in the chase. Bairstow is sending the bowlers on a leather hunt. He's batting on 66 off 44 at the moment.

New Zealand 109 for no loss after 16 overs.

50 for Bairstow

Fine innings this. He gets there off 38 balls and England have already polished off 84 from 224. Just 141 needed at less than four runs an over now.

FAST START

Excellent start this from England. Mike Hesson spoke about having England down 70 for 3 at some stage but they've raced to 65 for no loss after the powerplay. Bairstow is doing quite a bit of damage here in this modest chase. He's looking in good touch and has given England the perfect platform in the chase. New Zealand were 27 for 2 at this stage and struggling for momentum. England cruising.

Quick start - England race to 40 for no loss after the first six overs. Bairstow looking in brilliant touch at the moment ...

Alright then folks! Southee to start, Bairstow and Hales to open ...

END OF INNINGS - An 84-run stand for the seventh wicket between Henry Nicholls (55) and Mitchell Santner (67) lifted New Zealand but a clinical show from the England bowlers meant the hosts were able to manage a modest 223 in the series-deciding fifth and final ODI. Adil Rashid and Chris Woakes picked up three wickets each as the hosts failed to bat out the 50 overs.

New Zealand were left with an unkind cut early on when Ross Taylor was ruled out because of the injury he picked up during his heroic knock in the fourth game. England too were forced to make one change as Alex Hales replaced Jason Roy, who was unable to play because of back spasm.

With a placid track ahead of them Eoin Morgan opted to field hoping to chase whatever total is set in front of them at the high-scoring venue.

Williamson couldn't only manage 14 and fell in the tenth over to Wood with just 26 on the board. Guptill at one stage faced ten consecutive dot balls before finally being able to break free. Tom Latham fell for 10 to Adil Rashid while Moeen Ali bowled Mark Chapman for a duck before Guptill fell to the legspinner for a 68-ball 47.

At six wickets down by the 27th over, New Zealand were in precarious position and needed Nicholls and Santner to take the innings deep.

Santner and Southee dismissed on consecutive deliveries. New Zealand 214 for 9.

CURRAN STRIKES

Just when it looked like Nicholls and Santner will give New Zealand the much-needed late flourish, Curran has dismissed the former. He falls for 55 off 81.

New Zealand 178 for 7 in 44 overs.

10 overs to go, 160 on the board - How many can New Zealand get? 50 for Nicholls as well off 73 balls ...

50-run stand

So after a wobble, Santner and Nicholls have added 50 for the seventh wicket. Plenty of work still left to do.

New Zealand 146 for 6 after 38 overs.

20 overs left but New Zealand have just four wickets in hand. 102 for 6 with Nicholls on 21

Crucial Santner and Southee chip in with the bat today. Onus on de Grandhomme and Nicholls to ensure they take the innings deep now.

GUPTILL GONE

Big wicket this. New Zealand were banking on Guptill and now he falls to Rashid. Full and outside off, Guptill chased that one and sliced it towards Stokes who dived forward to grab that one. He's gone for 47 off 68.

New Zealand 79 for 5 after 22 overs.

20 overs done - New Zealand wobbling at 70 for 4

CHAPMAN FALLS

New Zealand in deep trouble now. Four down already inside 18 overs. Champan bowled by Mooen Ali for a duck.

New Zealand 61 for 4.

ONE MORE

Latham gone too. Plenty of pressure now on Chapman, Nicholls and de Grandhomme. New Zealand's middle-order has been exposed and they don't have Ross Taylor to fall back upon. Tossed up delivery and a catch chipped to midwicket from the left-hander. Guptill still there unbeaten on 34.

New Zealand 60 for 3 after 17 overs.

50 comes up for New Zealand in the 16th over.

END OF POWERPLAY

England get the wicket of Williamson. Wide of the crease from Wood and the New Zealand captain has chopped it back on the stumps. It's been tough going for Guptill as well. He had faced 10 consecutive dot balls so far. Williamson too is finding it hard to time the ball.

Latham has been pushed up the order in Taylor's absence. That means Mark Chapman will have to wait.

New Zealand 27 for 2 after first ten overs

SLOW START

It's been tough going for New Zealand. England have done well to keep things in check. Guptill has faced 26 deliveries for his 10. Williamson is on 7 off 14.

New Zealand 18 for 1 after ten overs.

WICKET

Munro falls third ball of the game. Woakes with the wicket. Short ball and he went for the pull. Woakes covered good ground and caught it.

New Zealand 1 for 1 after the first over.

Alright then folks! Guptill and Munro out there. Woakes to start with the ball ...

TOSS

BIG BLOW: Ross Taylor has been ruled out because of the injury he picked up during the fourth ODI.

Hello and welcome to the live blog of the fifth and final ODI between New Zealand and England. New Zealand enjoy playing in the South island of their beautiful country. Their five-wicket victory in the fourth ODI against England in Dunedin continued their unbeaten one-day record at that ground and they will also be looking to remain undefeated at Hagley Oval in Christchurch when the two sides meet there in the series decider.

This ODI series has shown the format in its very best light. The pitches have often given something for the bowlers which has created more nuanced and interesting cricket as a result and the series has ebbed and flowed as two fine teams have slugged it out. Although T20 cricket may be the coming force, when the 50-over format is as compelling as it has been in this series, it clearly still has a future.

It is fitting then that the two teams are locked at 2-2 going into the final match, setting up a knock-out type scenario which will be good preparation for next year's World Cup.

New Zealand's two victories in Hamilton and then in Dunedin have been based in large part on brilliant individual performances from Ross Taylor who may be missing in Christchurch with injury whereas England's wins in Wellington and Mount Maunganui were achieved thanks to a number of players contributing. Eoin Morgan's men still look the more rounded team, with more options with the ball and a deeper batting order.

With more players in decent form too, England are perhaps favourites to take the series and will be in the box seat if Taylor isn't fit, something which would put even more pressure on Kane Williamson. One area where England will be looking to improve is on their ability to take wickets in the middle overs which they were unable to do in both Hamilton and Dunedin.

But New Zealand teams are generally resourceful and this side has won two games in the series despite a number of important players such as batsman Martin Guptill and bowlers Tim Southee and Mitchell Santner not quite hitting their straps. The home side could have won in Wellington too had one of the middle order batsmen managed to stay with Williamson - who made a fine hundred - for just a few overs.

History is on New Zealand's side. They have played eight times at Hagley Oval since their first match there in 2015, winning them all. Prior to that first game at the venue against Sri Lanka, Lancaster Park had hosted international cricket in Chirstchurch but it was destroyed during the horrendous 2011 earthquake which cost 185 lives. Christchurch is a sporting city which is still rebuilding itself after that horrible day but it is a fitting venue for such a mouth-watering finale.
