South Africa tried but Sri Lanka have completed a three-wicket victory here. Dinesh Chandimal made a fine impact on comeback, while the spinners did a lot of damage too. The T20I also brings the end of South Africa's long tour.

Shamsi and Duminy have made an incision through the middle-order, but Chandimal has kept the chase going. The target is too little for South Africa to do much here, but they're trying.
Two quick wickets again
If Sri Lanka had a bigger score to defend, you could've said this game is oscillating wildly. After Chandimal and de Silva's strong stand worth 53 runs, Junior Dala and Tabraiz Shamsi struck to remove de Silva and captain Angelo Mathews. 63/4 in 8.3 overs.

Comeback man Chandimal is making quite an impact here. He and Dhananjaya de Silva have steadied the ship that Rabada rocked early. 52/2 in 7 overs.

And out goes David Miller. Another batsman trying to display intent by attempting to sweep his way out of trouble against a spinner. Miller top-edged a slog sweep off Dhananjaya and Dinesh Chandimal ran forward and took a catch at short mid-wicket. And with that, Dhananjaya finishes with figures of 4-0-15-2.

Kagiso Rabada is gone too! Sandakan has now picked three wickets in the over. Rabada was stuck in the crease and didn't quick pick the wrong 'un from the hand. The decision looked dead-straight in favour of Sri Lanka but Rabada chose the review, and wasted it in the process. 73/7 in 11 overs.

Oh this is dreary from South Africa. Andile Phehlukwayo has dragged one onto his stumps to give Sandakan his second, and Sri Lanka their sixth wicket of the night. David Miller will not be all-too-pleased that Phehlukwayo decided to do the big-hitting by himself. And failed miserably.

Another strangulation by spin for South Africa. Heinrich Klaasen came with the plan of throwing the home side off track by playing his shots, and has now perished while trying to keep that going. Sandakan unfurled a wrong 'un that Klaasan had no clue about. He went for a big heave and ended up slicing the ball to Kusal Mendis at point.
JP Duminy falls!
South Africa seem like they could do with a bit of rain. JP Duminy has been successfully trapped in front of the stumps by Dhananjaya de Silva, who now has two wickets in the game - and three overall in his brief T20I career. The South African captain looked to play a reverse sweep to a ball delivered from round the stumps, and ended up missing it. The ball held its line and struck him on the front pad. The onfield umpire wasn't convinced by Sri Lanka's request but a review did the trick for the hosts. 57/4 in 8 overs.
Rain threatened to stop play, but the covers were on and off almost straightaway. The play resumes without a substantial break!
Akila Dhananjaya strikes!
The wily spinner continues to befuddle South African batsmen. The 'off-spinner' unfurled a leg break at a slower pace and had Hendricks in all sorts of trouble. The big right-hander went for an expansive sweep but didn't seem to pick the variation. Out he goes for 19. 42/3 in 5.4 overs
Quinton de Kock is gone!
Sri Lanka are on top very early here. A sharp piece of fielding from Lakshan Sandakan at short fine leg has sent Quinton de Kock back to the hut for a 11-ball 20. De Kock tried to sweep a Dhananjaya de Silva delivery and didn't connect, and was then guilty of ball-watching. Sri Lanka went up in appeal for LBW while Reeza Hendricks looked to pinch a run. De Kock responded, but responded late and was caught short of his ground when Dhananjaya knocked off the bails at the non-striker's end. 30/2 in 3.4 overs.

Been eventful so far. Quinton de Kock hit three boundaries in the first over - first of them being a near chop onto his stumps - and then survived a run out scare before seeing Hashim Amla chip one to extra cover. Looked like the carom ball from Dhananjaya de Silva. 14/1 in 1.5 overs.

Mathews: "The pitch isn't going to change too much, might slow a bit but mostly should be the same. We are going with a 7-4 combination, four bowlers, two spinners. Was good to win the last couple of games and hopefully, the guys will turn up today as well."
Duminy: "We are gonna have a bat first. We have got three changes from the last ODI - Maharaj, Mulder and Markram miss out. Ngidi is back, so are Rabada and Shamsi. The format does free you up and we are hoping to put a good score."

Hello and welcome
The dangling carrot in front of Sri Lanka and South Africa ahead of the one-off T20I - clearly bereft of any context - is a chance to sign off on a winning note. The two teams have engaged in two Tests and five ODIs over exactly one month since July 12, and have taken a big share of the series pie each - Sri Lanka won the two Tests and South Africa bagged the ODI series 3-2. With the World T20 more than two years away, there's hardly anything to play for in the fixture that brings down the curtains on the tour.
This is the sort of situation when there's perhaps more to read into India captain Virat Kohli's first press conference in England earlier in July. Questions were thrown at him about the point of playing a three-match T20I series when the main focus was bound to be on the ODIs that would follow, because of the upcoming World Cup, and the subsequent Test series. He'd said: "Few teams have said, it has been inconsequential... I would agree to that if it happens at the fag end of the tour, at the start of any tour any games you get to play, you are as excited as the other team."
