Windies almost pulled it off. Manish was cramped for room and he hit it tamely straight towards the mid on. The bowler got his hands to it when the batsmen were attempting a single but he fails to hold onto it allowing the batsmen to steal the single. Windies are distraught but they did well to come this far.
Drama
Can you believe it? India needed 1 off 2 and then Dhawan found the fielder at the boundary. Ridiculous that India have taken it to this stage when they needed 7 off 10 with 8 wickets in hand. Local boy Karthik has come out.
Pant falls
Chepauk gives him a standing ovation. It was a top knock for Pant. He got his first fifty in the format for India but now in his attempt to be cheeky, he loses his middle stump. Manish Pandey comes out to complete the formalities.
India on course
43 off 30 with eight wickets in hand. This has an Indian win written all over it. Top stuff from Dhawan and Pant.
Dhawan fires
He has turned it on here and has put India on track again. He hadn't hit a fifty in eight innings and now he has broken the duck. India need 76 from 47 now and with eight wickets in hand, they will be favourites unless Windies pick up a couple of quick wickets.
Required rate goes up
Pant hasn't been fluent so far. And it's showing in the run rate. India have made only 76 in the first ten overs and as a result, they need to make up for it in the next ten to win. 106 needed off 60 now.
Rahul falls
Windies have struck again! That's the second wicket inside the powerplay for the visitors. Rahul struck a few boundaries but now edges one behind to the keeper off Thomas. India need to stitch a partnership and it's Pant who is out in the middle.
Early wicket
Rohit cannot believe this. He failed to spot the slower delivery and has hit it straight to mid off. Windies are delighted with the big wicket. This is a big chase and they needed it.
Pooran dazzles
Windies fetch 23 off the final over to post 181 on the board. Superb stuff this! Pooran was majestic. He was innovative and India's bowlers didn't have an answer against his innovative strokes. He brought up a fifty off just 24 balls and has given his side a very good total to defend.
Pooran on fire
He is dealing in sixes. After smashing a couple of big sixes off Bhuvneshwar, he brings out the switch hit against Chahal to fetch his third six. Windies can eye 180 here.
Final flourish
Darren Bravo did strike a couple of lusty blows in that 15th over but will Windies rue not having Pollard and Brathwaite in the middle for a big finish? They are 117/3 after 15 overs. Pooran needs to get a move.
Good comeback
Washington hasn't been at his best tonight. He has been hit for a few and after getting smashed for a six off Ramdin, he has the last laugh by dismissing the veteran. An underage knocks the stumps. Pooran has come out to bat now ahead of Pollard.
Dropped
Ramdin chips one back to the bowler in tame fashion and Krunal did time his jump to perfection. Despite that, he fails to hold onto the ball. Ramdin gets a reprieve. Windies are 84/2 after 12 overs.
Big wicket
He is a dangerous batsman, especially against the spinners and Chahal strikes once again to send Hetmyer back to the pavilion. He bowled it wide of the off stump and there was also some bounce. Hetmyer tried to swat it away but found the man stationed at deep point. Ramdin joins Bravo out in the middle.
Chahal strikes
It's a huge wicket for the legspinner. He has been off colour for a while and was hence not considered initially in the XI but he gets a game tonight and with the Windies scoring 51 in the powerplay, he had to strike early. He does it first ball with Hope miscuing one shot. Sundar comes under it and takes the catch perfectly. Darren Bravo is the new man.

Windies scored just 6 off the first two overs but Hetmyer helps the scoring rate with a few boundaries. They are now 29/0 after four overs.
Toss - Windies opt to bat
Carlos Brathwaite wins the toss and wants to bat first. Windies are unchanged. Indiadomake two changes and the local boy Washington Sundar gets a game. Yuzvendra Chahal is back as well. So, Shahbaz Nadeem is not going to make his debut.

Action returns to Chennai
Special mentions to the Chennai faithful. They were deprived of quality cricket earlier this year when the IPL matches had to be unfortunately moved out of the city barring the first game. This one is a dead rubber. There is an India-Pakistan Women's World T20 clash coming up that might manage to overshadow this contest especially after Harmanpreet's heroics a couple of days ago. But for the local crowd, this is certainly a big game despite the absence of MS Dhoni in India's squad.
Build up
Thumped in the Tests, beaten in the ODIs (albeit there was a brief resistance) and now walloped in the T20Is. To say no one expected the Windies to return home empty-handed would be a lie. Even in their favoured T20 format, the absence of a few big names didn't really make them favourites. And this long tour is finally coming to an end tonight with the final T20I of the series.
India already have one eye on the Australian tour. Having already rested Virat Kohli for the series, they have now left out Kuldeep Yadav, Umesh Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah for this dead rubber to ensure they are completely ready for the big tour down under. It might give Yuzvendra Chahal and perhaps Washington Sundar to make an impression whereas Shreyas Iyer would be itching for an opportunity in the middle order.
For the Windies, it's all about ending a disappointing tour on a winning note. Nothing but pride is at stake especially after the mauling in the second T20I. Their batting has crumbled on both occasions with big names like Kieron Pollard and Darren Bravo failing to fire. Denesh Ramdin hasn't instilled any confidence and their upcoming superstar Shimron Hetmyer hasn't been making the best use of his long handle. With India resting Kuldeep, perhaps tonight is the night where they should essentially look to break free. Welcome to the live blog for this final game.
