That Siraj over really changed the course of the game and it all came down to Shardul Thakur in the last over, with NZ needing 20. The first ball flew away for a six (who else but Bracewell), then came a wide but the next ball was a pinpoint yorker on leg-stump that trapped Bracewell in the middle of his shuffle.
A really good game of cricket. India managed to ride the Bracewell storm and go 1-0 up but this could be anyone's series. NZ are a quality side and they showed why tonight.
Siraj takes two
Breaks the record partnership at long last. India have the breakthrough they need. Oh, make it two in two! Santner departed first, not entirely in control of the pull shot as he top-edges to midwicket when SKY runs in to complete the catch. Siraj then knocks over Shipley's stumps, handing him a golden duck. NZ need 56 off 24 now
CENTURY
Would you believe this! He's notched up the third-fastest ODI hundred for NZ, accelerated from a 31-ball fifty to a 57-ball century now! Absolute decimation. He's played a stunning blinder to give NZ hope when they seemed down and out at 131/6. Santner giving him good company at the other end.
FIFTY
in 31 balls for Bracewell! He's counterattacked, and how. It may have come little late in the day but Bracewell has hit top gear to give New Zealand an outside chance. Absolutely playing with the field at the moment.
Siraj has Latham
The Kiwi captain never looked in control of his pull shot, taking on the bouncer from Siraj. Top-edges, and Washington with a fine sliding take in the deep leaves NZ reeling at 131/6.
Shami returns, and dents New Zealand
He's taken out the dangerous Glenn Phillips! The batter has slowed down a tad but the pressure is mounting with the asking rate constantly shooting. Phillips tries to hit his way out of it and pays the price with his wicket. Shaped up to slog it but is knocked over. NZ sink further.
Kuldeep picks two in quick succession
Hendry Nicholls first completely fails to read Kuldeep wrong'un and then Mitchell is trapped plumb in front. New Zealand in some trouble now at 89/4 but Glenn Phillips wastes no time in getting started. Finishes an otherwise fruitful over from Kuldeep with a slog-sweep into the stands at cow corner.
Thakur breaks threatening stand
... and takes out the dangerous Finn Allen. After a mediocre series in Pakistan, the Kiwi opener returned to form his this little cameo of 40. He hit seven fours and a six during his brief stay and the partnership was nearing fifty but Shardul strikes at a crucial moment. Lures Allen with a short ball, the batter mistimes his pull and is caught in the deep. No fifty for him, unfortunately.
Siraj strikes early
A well directed bouncer to end Devon Conway's stay in the middle and the home crowd roars for Siraj. India have got an early breakthrough.

Innings break: India post 349/8
It was one man army, wasn't it? Every time India managed to string a half-century partnership, New Zealand found a way past it. What they couldn't manage to break down was Gill's confidence once he got to his fifty. Fastest Indian to 1000 ODI runs, second fastest overall, youngest to notch up a double for India. The opener nearly carried his bat through, posed 208 of India's 349 all by himself and has single-handedly made this target look formidable given the slowing nature of the pitch. This wouldn't be easy for New Zealand. See you back in 35 minutes.
DOUBLE TON
Youngest Indian to notch up an ODI double century! Five sixes in his last seven balls and he's absolutely motored to his 200. 87 balls to his hundred and then just 57 more to the double!Eventually falls for 208 in the final over, but what an innings this has been! Single-handedly powering India.
Thakur makes a sacrifice
A terrible mix-up in the middle and Thaur gives up his wicket for Gill, who is on song. India have gone four overs without a boundary now since Gill reached his 150.
Maiden ODI wicket for Shipley
Washington falls for 12, trapped LBW. Looked quite close but the India has reviewed it nonetheless. Flat line as the ball passes the bat, followed by three reds and that's the first ODI wicket for Shipley after a tough outing here today.
150 for Gill. There's no stopping him today!
Mitchell removes Hardik
Oh that's a controversial dismissal. The third umpire has ruled Hardik out - bowled - when the ball is clearly in Latham's gloves as hasn't disturbed the stumps on the way. He's cramped for room attempting a cut, and misses it and the stumps light up. NZ are appealing but aren't entirely sure. Umpires aren't either so it is sent upstairs. No edge, the ball passes the stumps and Latham's hands are very close. The bails light up only after Latham has the ball but the umpire rules it in New Zealand's favour. Hardik and India would definitely not be happy with this.
1000 ODI runs for Gill - he's the quickest Indian to the milestone.
CENTURY
Gill brings up second successive century! 3 ODI hundred in just 19 innings for the young opener, and he's the second quickest among Indians -n after Dhawan (17 innings) - to get there!
Surya departs
...against the run of play! Chipped tamely to cover and Daryl Mitchell is delighted. He knows this one was a big wicket. SKY looked in ominous touch the way he started with four boundaries in the first 10 balls. Couldn't convert through as the 65-run stand is broken. NZ finding a way always to keep India in check.
Kishan falls cheaply
Edged, and taken! Ferguson reaps the reward of good bowling eventually. Kishan hit a 200 in his last ODI, sat out for the three games against Sri Lanka, gets a middle-order slot here but couldn't make a difference. New Zealand have recovered well since the powerplay.
Fifty for Gill. He's the man in form!
Kohli departs
Kohli and the entire crowd at the Hyderabad stadium stunned into silence! Santner gets the big fish. Kohli goes back to defend a length ball that turns ever so slightly to go past his outside edge and knock back the off-stump.
Rohit falls!
The India captain went early on a full ball trying to play it over mid-on but didn't time it right. The ball went high but not far from Daryl Mitchell at mid-on to give Blair Tickner the first wicket.
50 partnership
Half-century stand comes up for India in nine overs. Steady start from the hosts. Rohit has already hit a couple of sixes and Shipley has proved expensive for the hosts with the new ball.

New series, same mission. India and New Zealand resume their World Cup preparations with a couple of first-choice players injured/rested. India come into the series on the back of a resounding 3-0 whitewash of Sri Lanka at home while New Zealand aren't short of confidence in subcontinental conditions either after their 2-1 come-from-behind series win in Pakistan. Who will take the first lead here? We'll find out soon enough.
