Ishan Kishan | Player of the Match: (On playing his first game for SRH) To be very honest, the nervousness was there. I won't deny that. But looking at the squad and looking at the team, especially Pat and the coach, they gave a lot of confidence before the game. The environment is so calm and composed, you know you just have to go in and believe in yourself like what's supposed to be done at that point of time. I just enjoyed my time in the middle. (Preparation) I got a lot of time in between, I was practising very hard, worked on my batting also. Overall, the preparation was very good. I am feeling confident. You can see Abhishek Sharma and Head going in and playing that sort of a game. Ultimately, you are No. 3 and you get the confidence. Just go in there and you get enough time to take a few balls because Head is not going to stop, Abhishek is never going to stop. Either you are batting way too early in the innings or you're batting at a point where already there are a lot of runs on the board. It's very difficult to get that sort of a total in each and every game. Like I said, Pat, he knows what's there for the team and the coach is also talking about the same thing - 'you have to go in and enjoy whatever your game-play is. You have to plan accordingly, just play your game and don't be in a fear of getting out.'

Pat Cummins | SRH captain: I wouldn't be wanting to bowl to our boys. Unbelievable. That was scary. You know it's going to be tough (for the bowlers) but when you have such a big score, one over can really win you the game for a bowling side. You're gonna go for runs but it's about backing up that next over, fresh start and then you can make the difference. We have been able to keep the core of the side together. We lost a couple of guys but really happy with who we replaced them with, Ishan today was incredible. Just trying to play with freedom and keep enjoying it. The preparation has been amazing, our coaches have been fantastic, they've been here for 3-4 weeks. Everyone's come really fit, firing and we just encourage them to play with freedom. It's easier said than done but the boys created a blueprint for how to play for the rest of the year.

Harshal Patel: Pretty happy with this. I felt we were better with the execution barring a few overs. Whatever we played in the bowlers meeting, we were able to execute. Helps when you have 290 on the board. The coaches don’t believe too much in talking, the initial chat was how to be defensive and how to compliment the batting line-up. There’s a fine line between being defensive and being aggressive, it depends on the context of the game. There will be times when we need to go hard on the stumps, need to bowl conventionally. But when you have 270-280 on the board, our job gets easier since we have to just bowl defensive. No ground is easy for bowlers in the IPL, the mindset of batters have changed as well. So you need to be on top of your game and execute well.

Riyan Parag | RR captain: It was tough, just like I expected. Credit to SRH but we could have executed better. Will have a sit down and chat about what we could have done better. (On choosing to bowl first) I feel collectively we took that decision, it was the right decision but it was about executing better. You’d mind if 280 is on the board, at the toss I said 200 was what I expected but 220-240 would have been a good score to chase down. Quite a few positives, the way Dhruv and Sanju batted was brilliant. And then Hettie and Shivam as well later on. Tushar bowled really well, Sandy paaji did well. A win or a less, we take the learnings and then we forget.

In reply, RR had no choice but to come out all guns blazing. Simarjeet Singh nipped out Jaiswal and Parag cheaply in his first over. His new ball partner - Shami - accounted for Nitish Rana which resulted in the Royals losing three wickets in the powerplay. That's when Sanju Samson - RR's Impact Player - was joined by Dhruv Jurel. The duo put on a fight and stitched a brilliant hundred partnership with both of them registering fifties. They were removed in quick succession but Hetmyer and Shubham Dubey showed their hitting prowess to reduce the margin of defeat.

His partner-in-crime at the top of the order - Travis Head - joined the party to score a brisk fifty. Ishan Kishan - on SRH debut - another left-hander came in at three and batted with the same tempo to notch up a marvellous century. NKR and Klaasen made handy contributions as well. SRH's top-five batters had a strike-rate in excess of 200 and the hosts ended up posting the second highest IPL total on the board - 286 - not too far away from 300!
